Ontario is located in east-central Canada and it is the fourth largest province with a total area of 1,076,395 sq km. It has a population of 13,505,900; Toronto is the capital. Ottawa, Canada's capital, is also located in Ontario.

Ontario's main grape growing regions are located in the most southern part of Ontario around Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Ontario is the main grape growing and wine producing province in Canada. According to the 2011 Stats Canada agricultural crops table, Ontario accounted for 61% of the total Canadian acreage under vine.
